Operational Design Interactive Case Study: Desert Storm
An interactive case study that uses Desert Storm to teach how strategy turned into operational design decisions.
Purpose
An interactive case study that uses Desert Storm to teach how strategy turned into operational design decisions.
Overview
This case works at the strategic and operational level rather than as a narrow tactical decision exercise.
The intent is to help students reason through how strategic objectives shape campaign design and operational logic.
What I built
It is a guided case framework that ties strategic intent to operational design and campaign execution, with prompt flows that surface the assumptions and decision logic behind the choices rather than just the outcomes. Under it sits a prototype architecture for AI-supported operational design instruction.
Why this matters for PME
The case treats operational design as a thinking process rather than a checklist. Students have to test the quality of their reasoning and weigh alternative ways of framing the problem, which is how doctrine familiarity turns into real strategic judgment.
Current state
This is a prototype, and part of a larger effort to build serious AI-supported case-study learning in PME.
